Jared was born and raised in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and continues to live in the town of Yarmouth with his wife Ashley, and two daughters, Lilah and Callie, who are both part of the Yarmouth County Minor Hockey Association. Professionally, Jared is currently entering his third school year as the Director of Programs and Student Services for the Tri-County Regional Centre for Education and prior to that, was the Principal at Yarmouth Central School from 2011 - 2019.
Jared has been involved in both coaching and development within the association for the last 15 years and is looking forward to bringing his experience as both a player and coach to the Mariners organization. Jared was drafted by the Halifax Oland Exports and played briefly in the Central Junior Hockey League in Ontario before embarking on a career in education. Jared and his wife Ashley were Mariners billets for the 2020-2021 season and he’s excited and thankful to remain connected to the team and looks forward to working with the players alongside the coaching staff.
“I’m extremely honored to have the opportunity to work with such a great organization and one that has proven itself to be successful not only as a hockey club, but as an organization who instills qualities in its players to be successful with their future goals. The Mariners organization and its staff have always done such a great job of ensuring that the players are supported in getting to the next step, whether that be in hockey, education and/or the workforce, and I’m thrilled to be a part of that. I’m looking forward to working with, and learning from, Laurie, John, David along with the rest of the staff.”
