Yarmouth, N.S. (June 2, 2025) – Yarmouth Mariners Make Key Roster Moves in Preparation for Upcoming Season
With the 2025 MHL Draft just around the corner, the Yarmouth Jr A Mariners have been busy shaping their roster and building for the future with a series of offseason trades.
In a major move, the Mariners have traded Nikolas Mokriakov, Julien Avignon-Bourque, and a 2025 1st round draft pick to the Grand Falls Rapids. In return, Yarmouth receives forward Liam Dutcher, along with a 2026 1st round pickand a 2026 5th round pick.
“We have been chasing Lian Dutcher for a long time. He’s a great 200ft player with high hockey IQ. Fans are going to love him” Said Coach Barron.
In a separate deal, the Mariners have sent Alexi Parent to the Valley Wildcats in exchange for a conditional 8th round pick in the 2026 MHL Draft.
The Mariners also announced the completion of several previous trades, resulting in the acquisition of three promising players:

Liam Wolf-Taulbee from Summerside

Easton Schlender from Miramichi (in exchange for 2026 5th and 7th round picks)

Jano Zambakdjian from West Kent
Coach Barron is optimistic about the new additions to the roster:
“Super excited to bring in 3 very talented players who fit our team very well. We want to be hard to play against this season and Liam, Jano, and Easton fit the bill. All 3 guys are very intense and play the game the right way, and the fans at the Fish Tank will love their mix of talent and hard-nose play.”
As the 2025 MHL Draft approaches, the Mariners remain focused on building a team that will compete hard every night and excite fans in Yarmouth.
