The Yarmouth JR A Mariners who started the season with 3 goaltenders have now reduced that number to 2. On Tuesday, September 26th, HC/GM Laurie Barron had announced the team had traded 2000 born goaltender Thompson Phinney to Blind River (NOJHL) for future considerations. Phinney who was drafted last year in the 4th round of the 2017 MHL draft appeared in 11 regular season games posting a 2.36 GAA and also a 910 SVS%. The Yarmouth Mariners organization would like to wish Thomson the best of luck in the future as he continues his junior career.
In another roster, related news HC/GM Laurie Barron has confirmed the arrival of LW free agent forward Thomas Hillier from Calgary Alberta. Hillier previously was with the Kindersley Klippers of the SJHL. The 18 year old forward is a product of the International Hockey Academy prep school.
the Mariners will play 3 games in 3 days this week starting in South Shore Thursday evening. They will be back on the ice Friday and Saturday in Yarmouth as they host the Valley Wildcats on Friday and then Welcome the Truro Bearcats on Saturday. Puck drop for both games is 7:30 pm. Tickets also are available at the Mariners Centre box office.
