Mariners Sign Jordan Mckenna

The Yarmouth Jr. A Mariners have signed a highly-coveted forward.

The team traded up in the 2016 draft to select Jordan McKenna of Dartmouth, who is also a highly rated lacrosse player.

Head coach Laurie Baron tells Y95 Sports they get him between Prep School and his NCAA Division 1 university time.

“When he played in Dartmouth, we thought he was ready to play junior as a 16-year-old…and, obviously, he’s an incredible athlete, you know he’s every bit as good a lacrosse player as he is a hockey player. He went to a very good prep school in the United States, and we respected that, and just so happy that we’re gonna get to have him for a year”

Baron says the 19-year-old has everything the team is looking for.

“Great hockey IQ, hard worker, you know, good hands, gritty player…he checks off a lot of the boxes”

McKenna was selected by Yarmouth in the 2nd round of the 2016 Draft and played one playoff game that year.

Training Camp opens with a meet & greet on the 22nd of August and the Mariners will have a “young guns” rookie game against South Shore on the 27th.
