Mariners Sign Forward Cole Foston
A former QMJHL forward is on his way to the Yarmouth Mariners.

Cole Foston, a 2019 draft pick of the Mariners, is expected to suit up for games this weekend.

Foston had been playing with the Saint John Sea Dogs this year, and last season was a member of the Halifax Mooseheads.

Mariners Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says it makes the team a lot deeper.

“We weren’t sure if we’d see him here when we drafted him, but we’re excited for him to be part of our organization now,” says Barron.

The 18 year old from Beaver Bank, NS had a goal and an assist in 14 games with the Sea Dogs this season.

Barron says he brings a lot of skill, and he’s excited to see how he fits into the lineup.

“He’s a puck-pursuer. He’d hard on the puck and he brings a physical edge. He brings us something that we needed and he can play anywhere in our top nine.”

Barron says he had been looking at trade options to improve, but it’s nice to add Foston without having to give up an asset.

Yarmouth is back in action on Saturday night at home against the Pictou County Crushers.

On Sunday, the Mariners will host their ‘Every Child Matters’ game against Amherst.
