HockeyTech to support MHL Nova Scotia Victims Fund through live rebroadcast of 2019 Canadian Tire Cup Final on HockeyTV

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

HockeyTech will donate 50 cents per viewer to the fund in honor of the victims

Truro, N.S. (April 28, 2020) – HockeyTech, a major partner of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL), has announced support of the league’s Nova Scotia Victims Fund through a live rebroadcast of the final game of the 2018-19 season on its HockeyTV service. On April 19th, 2019, the Yarmouth Mariners captured their second league championship in a thrilling 7-6 come-from-behind overtime win against the Campbellton Tigers in Game 4 of the Canadian Tire Cup Final.

The game will be broadcast Friday, May 1st starting at 7 p.m. Atlantic Time on HockeyTV for free. HockeyTech will make a donation to the MHL Nova Scotia Victims Fund of 50 cents for each viewer of the game (up to $5,000). All that’s needed to watch is a free account, which can be created at hockeytv.com.

“We at HockeyTech are devastated by the senseless tragedy and wanted to help support the victims”, says HockeyTech CEO Stu Siegel. “We hope to rally the nation to watch the game on HockeyTV and support our fundraising efforts with the MHL.”

The Fund was established in the aftermath of the tragic events in central and northern Nova Scotia to raise money that will go directly to the families, victims, and communities impacted by these events. All funds generated with this campaign will be held in trust and administered by a group within the MHL’s Board of Governors.

“The outpouring of support from coast to coast for the MHL Nova Scotia Victims Fund has been overwhelming, and the league’s partners have stepped up to the plate time and again to get this off the ground to support the victims of this tragedy,” says MHL President Steve Dykeman. “We’re thankful to HockeyTech for this initiative and hope everyone tunes in to this exciting game on Friday night.”
