Mariners Acquire Robinson and Patton
Yarmouth, NS – Yarmouth Jr. A Mariners General Manager Laurie Barron announced today the club has bolstered their team for the playoff run by acquiring a pair of 20-year-olds – forward Cam Patton and defenceman Kyle Robinson.
Bible Hill native Cam Patton (originally drafted by Yarmouth in 2017 – 5th Round – 50th overall) has been dealt from perennial powerhouse Carlton Place Canadians of the CCHL to Yarmouth in exchange for future considerations.
Patton will bring even more offense to a deep Mariners team as he scored 89 points (41 goals / 48 assists) in 123 games over the past three seasons with Carlton Place.
GM Laurie Barron had the following to say about Patton, “Cam is an elite forward who plays a complete 200 ft game and can play in all situations. We drafted Cam a few seasons ago and now we hope to help him finish his junior career off with a bang.”
Also coming into the fold is Rocky Harbour, NL product Kyle Robinson who had his MHL rights acquired from Fredericton Red Wings in exchange for a 2021 2nd round pick along with a 2022 conditional 1st.
After three seasons with Western Kings in the Newfoundland Major Midget League, Kyle headed out west to play with the well-known Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League before moving to Trenton of the OJHL. Kyle scored 49 points (10 goals / 39 assists) in 95 games over the past two seasons.
“Kyle is a smooth puck-moving dman who is very good with the puck and can run a power play.” Barron was quoted as saying. “You know you are old when you coached Kyles’s dad (Mark) in Windsor and also own Kyle’s younger brother rights Lucas (drafted in 2019 – 4th 47th) who is currently with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL.”
Mariner fans won’t have to wait long to see the new additions as they will be in the lineup for the next game at Mariners Centre on January 15th as the visiting South Shore Lumberjacks are in town. Puck drop is at 7:30 pm.
