Hayes is Player of the WeekThe Reebok CCM Player of the week is Carl Hayes, Captain of the Yarmouth Mariners. Hayes had a tremendous week leading his team to two important wins, keeping the Mariners in the hunt for a playoff spot. On Wednesday night in Woodstock, Hayes scored twice and assisted on another to lead the Mariners to a big 5-4 win over the league leading Slammers. Hayes was second star of the game. One night later in Halifax, Hayes repeated his performance with two goals (three points) in a 7-2 win over the Lions. Then on Saturday in Yarmouth, Hayes scored again and earned an assist as Yarmouth dropped a very close 4-3 decision with the visiting Slammers. Hayes currently has 52 points in 47 games to lead his team - 28 of those points are goals. Hayes has the second most goals amongst any MJAHL player over the past two seasons trailing only Brogan Bailey of Woodstock, he has also just recently eclipsed the 100 point career mark in a Mariner's uniform.
Hayes, a 20 year-old who hails from Canning, Nova Scotia, hopes to earn his education while playing hockey in the NCAA or CIS, with hopes of becoming a lawyer or earning a business degree.
